Endurance and the Athlete
By Suzanne McMurry, ND
The sun is shining, it’s warm outside and Greenlake is brimming with runners, bikers, roller skaters, and walkers. It’s awesome to look out of our clinic window, which faces the parks of Greenlake, and see all the recreational and healthy physical activity.
Just 30 minutes a day of moderate exercise can help you:
1. Reduce your risk of heart problems later in life
2. Maintain a healthy weight
3. Lower your blood pressure
4. Reduce the number of your sick days
5. Reduce stress and increase your energy
6. Eliminate insomnia
7. Keeps your bones healthy and strong!
Best of all, Seattle has an amazing amount of races this summer — just check out the Seattle government website for a list of trails in and around the area (www.seattle.gov/parks/athletics/running.htm).
If you are racing, and you wake up the next morning feeling fatigued, your body aches, and you can barely get out of bed, come see me for the “Runner’s Repleat” IV push. The specially formulated IV features magnesium and calcium that restore essential nutrients to your muscles, Vitamin C that gives your body back it’s electrolytes, and a combination of B vitamins that increase your energy back to where it was prior to your race.
