Nature’s Skin Secrets
Nature’s Best Kept Secrets for Rejuvenating and Protecting Your Skin.
The secret is in simplicity.
Simplify your skincare routine (or start one!) to optimize your skin health and vitality. Our skin is technically an organ, with a job of protecting us and releasing toxins. It is essential, in a world full of toxins, to support our bodies in releasing them.
Working from the inside out:
Aiding the primary organs of elimination will lighten the burden on our skin. When any of these organs aren’t able to keep up with eliminating toxins, the burden often falls on our skin. This can show up as acne, eczema, psoriasis, and the list goes on. With a growing demand of traditional food finding it’s way back into markets like PCC and Whole Foods, we can find dandelion leaves, artichoke leaves, or burdock root in the produce aisle. These foods support the liver, kidneys, and GI tract. If tea is your go-to, a detox tea may be helpful. Here at FCNM, we carry a special tea blend called Rebalancing Cleanse Support Tea formulated by Katya Difani, herbalist and founder of Herban Wellness, a local herb shop. This tea boasts a pleasant flavor, unlike most detox formulations, and is safe enough to use daily for longer periods of time. It aids all organs of elimination and promotes lymphatic and skin health.
Working from the outside in:
Encouraging lymphatic tissue movement is also essential to skin health. The lymphatic system’s job is to carry nutrients and wastes as well as house some of our immune systems key fighters. It is essentially a filtration system. You may have heard about dry skin brushing. By sloughing off dead skin cells and providing manual stimulation through gentle skin brushing, the lymphatic vessels are influenced to move fluids along, decreasing any stagnation or buildup of wastes. Another way to increase lymph movement is exercising — even walking and light yoga will get things going!
Once you’ve been able to lighten the toxin load and slough off dead skin cell build-up, nourishment and protection become a final step.

Consider cosmetic acupuncture.
